Water in the City
It is He who sends
down rain from the sky; from it is drink and from it is foliage in which you
pasture [animals]. He causes to grow for you thereby the crops, olives, palm
trees, grapevines, and from all the fruits. Indeed in that is a sign for a
people who give thought. (Surat An-Nahl [16: 10-11] - The Noble Qur'an)
Water…We
cannot survive without it, and we expect it to be there when we need it.
It
is the mission to our authority to provide an adequate supply of water for our
essential daily needs.We
also have State and Federal Law and Policies such as the Safe Drinking Water
Act and National Water Services Industry Act 2006 as a guidelines and standard practices
to ensure we will manage the water as part of larger natural systems. Take
the issue of stormwater management and water distribution; we hope that the following
Law and Policies set by authorities become an ideal concept rather than a set
of specific guidelines and practices.
Water We Use
In our cities
(Malaysia Region) rainwater is the main source and the largest source of storm water
runoff. In large view, rainwater runoff collected in dams and reservoirs
for rural water supply.
Water Come Water Loss
Malaysia received lots
of rainwater throughout the years, but we do not manage it well. We now feel
the pressures on rural water supplies, escalating demand, deteriorating water
quality and new development projects of water sources in this country.
Action Time
We still have a lot
of work to do…
The most important
step in the direction of finding solutions to issues of water is time to us to
act more like natural systems. Some of the simple thing we thing will become
the right thing to do. Some actions should be considered as one of the
promising alternatives such as:-
Reduce such losses
Improve soil moisture
Reducing water demand
Rainwater harvesting
